A Sense of the Academic Year 2024-25

A 10 Point Summary

Dear friend,

2024-25 marked iTeach's 10th year.  In many ways, it was new and special, while in some other ways, it was everyday and routine - which is also great in an otherwise very VUCA world.  We're keen to share a sense of this past year with you all.  Keeping in line with our 10-point format, we'd like to take you through

4 areas where we deepened our work

3 initiatives we experimented with

2 places where we grew, and

1 persistent challenge that we have, and will keep fighting

All these in a fun, bite-sized stories, with a link to READ MORE.  That's it.

Thank you for your precious mindspace and attention. Now, grab your favourite beverage, and let's dive in.

Warmly,

Team iTeach

What did we Deepen

1. Bigger (batch) and better (results)!

Our 2025 Grade X batch was 30% larger than last year’s, with two new schools in Navi Mumbai! We are equal parts proud and relieved with the results. Overall, 822/833 students cleared it, with 72% in first-class.  Pune got 7% better year-on-year, while Navi Mumbai absolutely exceeded expectations in their first year itself!  Suchita and Sweta (our School Directors) are quietly proud of their ability to reliably replicate their systems.

2. College to Career: Raising the Bar Every Year

This year, the C2C program got better EVERYWHERE! 35% more students in top colleges, 40% more career-enhancing opportunities like part-time jobs, internships, and volunteering, and finally, an improved median salary of 10.5%. A five-year third-party evaluation gave the C2C program a Social Return on Investment score of 19.32 (essentially amazing). Read more below to find the SROI report.

 3. iTeach Uni: A brand new staff PD platform!

We’ve been big on professional development since Year 1, but this year was a major step forward. We’ve built and launched an internal (so far) learning platform for our staff, with a wide variety of learning options: 90-minuters (carefully curated video lessons), month-long book clubs, day-long workshops, and a bunch of cohort-based courses!

4. Elevating Volunteer Impact

With our funding partners this year, we upped our volunteer impact game significantly. UBS’s team ran workshops focused on Zero Waste across all our schools, an ace team from Citi mentored our alumni throughout their college application processes, and at Odyssey (our first all-school sports and cultural festival), it was an all-hands-on-deck effort!

Where did we Grow

5. Launched our Largest School yet in Navi Mumbai

In partnership with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, we launched our second school in the city — iTeach NMMC 92/121 — serving almost 800 students in Grades 5–10 in Nerul. These students, once on alternate-day schedules in under-resourced schools, now have full-time, quality learning. In just nine months, the school produced iTeach’s third-highest SSC scorer (94%).

6. Breaking Ground with Panvel’s First English-Medium Government School

In partnership with the Panvel Municipal Corporation, we started iTeach DBP — the city’s first English-medium government school. Serving Grades 1–5 (and aiming to expand to 10), it marked a bold shift from our secondary-only model, requiring new curriculum, expert onboarding, and fresh learning. Year 1 ended with a fully in-house musical inspired by Teach for India's Conference of the Birds.

Both schools are proof points of the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model of schools - where the government provides infrastructure and 50% of the operational expenses, philanthropic partners contribute the remaining funding, and iTeach runs the school end to end.

70%

students in First class or above in 2025 SSC Board Exams

97%

students from the last batch in higher education

85%

students from the first 2 batches are either working or pursuing their masters

What did we Experiment with?

7.  Blended Learning is finally at iTeach!

In the next three years, we’re revamping our entire pedagogy to bring a true 21st-century learning journey to all our students. The first step: eight schools kicked off literacy classes using Blended Learning Labs in partnership with Bunge India! These labs have three stations set up in a rotational model: DuoLingo for vocabulary, RAZPro for reading comprehension, and a teacher-led writing station. Students now learn at their own pace with instant feedback from the apps, while the teacher is freed up to focus where most needed. Coming soon: BLL for Math, and gradually in all subjects!

8. The School Leader Academy - and SLA100!

We’d been dreaming about this for a long time - and finally piloted it this year - an intensive 5 month program designed to fast-track the journey of mission-driven leaders into school leadership roles. The pilot graduated 17 leaders this year - with 12 already working as Principals and Vice Principals!  And we made a bold new vision with them - SLA100 - what would happen if we build 100 School Leaders over next 5 years, working collectively across the country, fighting for all kids?

Know someone who’s a great fit for SLA - ask them to apply for Cohort 2 before 7 Sept!

9. A Rural Pilot in Khed

For the first time, our College to Career program expanded beyond our alumni and urban focus — reaching 1300 girls in Khed Taluka, Pune. In partnership with our founding donor Forbes Marshall and local NGO Yojak, we’re addressing barriers through scholarships, life skills, and community engagement.

10. What did we Struggle with?

Our staff is still stretched thin:

This challenge persists from last year. The rigor, long hours, data-driven culture, and demands of teaching in low-income communities take a physical and mental toll. Despite introducing five-day workweeks and ongoing feedback cycles, the core question remains: How can we deepen, grow, and experiment — while ensuring our people thrive in the long run?

We don’t have all the answers yet, but we’re committed to exploring them — alongside our teams and with ideas from others who care about making a lasting impact, sustainably.

We're Getting Better Together!
